Gratitude in its Truest, Most Beautiful Form
A grateful heart sees what others overlook. Gratitude is the cornerstone of well-being. It helps us give thanks for the good in our lives. Research shows it changes the brain, supporting our health and happiness. Besides, its application doesn’t demand grave effort. Ponder everything you saw today that made you depressed or troubled and consider the opposite plight, the inability to see.
Which will you choose if faced with a choice between the above options? Practicing gratitude will not solve every problem, yours or the world’s, but a shift in focus follows and, if nothing else, helps you grasp an everyday truth. Matters could be worse.
These poems celebrate gratitude in its truest, most beautiful form.
Through Grateful Eyes
Why should we express gratitude? The reasons are of magnitude, but passing on statements extreme, in simple words, thanks reign supreme, showing us we’re fortunate and teaching others to relate.
Today
The first reflection I’ll relay is saying thanks; I woke today from peaceful slumber through the night, sat up in bed and saw daylight!
Appreciate
Life will unearth sorrow and mirth; yet, being is enough to acknowledge its worth.
Capacity
Empowered with capacity to act and understand, with freedom to make choices, face truths, and take a stand.
Experience broadens our perspectives, helping us to grow, in empathy, humility, respect, and saying no.
Capacity holds goodness, honour, failings, vice; its power is a two-edged sword; good judgement will suffice.
We have legs to carry us where we want to go and a brain to decide when to do it fast or slow.
Forgiveness
Forgiveness empowers, freeing us from the past, mending our relationships, building them to last.
It doesn’t ensure we forget, but asks us to let go, discarding the resentment, forbidding it to grow.
Besides, it offers us the choice to rise above and heal, preserving our joy of life that grudges aim to steal.
Inspiration
It’s encouragement or influence boosting or lifting us, and sometimes in our artistry, the needed stimulus.
Call it vision, bright idea, or mental stimulation. It gives us designs, helps create maps, and forms well-timed solutions.
Seasons
The vegetation surfaces and the garden blooms, and supporting their footprints, warmth filled every room.
We gather seasons fruits and crops, and colourful leaves fall. Red berries ripen through the chill, and we make a haul.
With a grateful heart, I hope you enjoyed the poetry.
