Discover Chances Are – A. Fredericka’s Captivating Poetry Collection

Some books find you at exactly the right moment. Chances Are is one of them.

A. Fredericka’s poetry collection, Chances Are: Seeds of Truth, Forgiveness, and Healing, carries readers into a world layered with emotion, wisdom, and the quiet courage it takes to face yourself honestly. These verses speak to the full arc of a human life – marriage, family, parenting, faith, loss, and love – and they do so with a tenderness that feels like a conversation between trusted friends.

Where These Words Came From

The line “I am a warrior at heart; fought wars of every kind” came from a very real place. A. Fredericka wrote it thinking of her aggressive youth – a young woman full of fire, whose mother pleaded with her to soften, to pull back, to tone down that combativeness. She couldn’t see why she had to. That edge felt like survival. What she didn’t know then was that the same fire driving those battles would one day fuel something far more powerful – words that heal.

That journey from fighter to poet, from conflict to compassion, sits at the heart of every poem in this collection.

Poetry About the Warrior Within

Every poem in Chances Are plants something in you. A. Fredericka writes the way life actually feels – complicated, worthwhile, and full of moments we recognize as our own. These verses hold space for the battles we’ve carried, the lessons we earned the hard way, and the peace we’re still reaching toward.

Readers who have faced their own inner wars – grief, anger, self-doubt, broken relationships – will find themselves exhaling on nearly every page.

What It Means to Take a Chance on Healing

One of the collection’s most striking poems opens with a simple, breathtaking invitation:

May we come in?  Chance asked; More grinned. You’re busy; this we know,

but if you don’t have time for us, that’s okay, we could go.

Eyes opened wide, I stepped aside; said here, come have a seat,

and talked about the reasons why  it took so long  to meet.

Chance, to me, expounded, it all starts with him,

and brother More’s the blessing, after his margin.

Dance with me Chance offered; there’s no need to be shy,

and who knows, if you’re good at it, then, maybe you could fly.

With pounding heart, unsteady steps, I glanced across at More.

He smiled and said, dance with that guy, I’m yours forevermore.

A scared and awkward dancer with no hint that I could soar,

but every step I made, I felt my footsteps became sure.

Now, dancing is my pleasure; More ever at my side,

and his dear brother Chance, well, he continues as my guide.

A. Fredericka wrote this poem focused on one essential truth – healing requires risk. You step onto the floor with an unsteady heart. You don’t always win. But you won’t lose it all either. And sometimes, when you take that chance, More – abundance, wholeness, love – meets you right there and stays.

That invitation runs through every page of this collection. Chances Are is not a passive read. It asks something of you. And what it gives back is worth every step.

Faith, Fire, and the Butterfly

The good things in life travel through heat. A. Fredericka returns to this truth again and again throughout the collection – the idea that transformation carries a cost, and that cost produces something extraordinary.

For silver to cast off its dross, through high heat – the attested costs. A caterpillar, too, must die to become a butterfly.

Silver reaches its purest form only through fire. The caterpillar surrenders everything it knows to become what it was always meant to be. These images ground the collection in something ancient and tested – the understanding that real healing moves through difficulty, and emerges on the other side changed, refined, and free.

Relatable Healing Themes

Chances Are works as a companion you return to again and again. A. Fredericka writes with accessible language that handles complex truths – self-discipline, forgiveness, grace, the slow work of becoming – without ever feeling heavy or distant. The poems move at a human pace, inviting reflection rather than demanding it.

Readers across faith backgrounds, life stages, and personal histories have found themselves in these pages. The collection currently holds a 4.7-star rating from 91 readers on Amazon – a testament to how deeply these poems land.
